For the ninth time, Nussdorf, on the banks of the breathtakingly beautiful lake Attersee, provided perfect conditions as it played host to the regularity test on the 19th and 20th May 2006. Once again, Carrera was represented by two drivers as well as being one of the main sponsors.
The mountain race was staged under a clear blue sky and was able to boast a record number of participants and 288 historical cars and motorbikes from home and abroad. The race exuded great international flair and fascination thanks to perfect organisational work and an ebulliently happy Ritchi Riegler, who was responsible for the live commentary. The holiday village on the banks of Lake Attersee was as such almost unrecognisable: All the OMG members of the Oldtimer & Motor Sport Society had their work cut out finding room for every vehicle in the correct starting position in the centre of the village, having first carried out all the technical trials and examinations.
The race Participants were divided into 12 categories and had to finish the course driving as evenly timed laps as possible. The winners managed to time their laps to within a few hundredths of a second. In the first race Andreas Stadlbauer set an amazingly fast time in his 290 bhp E-Type Jaguar. The second car on the course for Carrera was driven by Christoph Klinger. The light blue Alfa Romeo Spider recorded just 7 seconds time difference and achieved a highly respectable position. Bernhard Seidlhofer from Vienna in his racing red Masarati honed his time difference down to just 0.9 seconds, taking the 47th position overall and 9th place in his category.
The winners The winners in every category were rewarded accordingly before the skies finally turned grey and cooled down the crowds. A winner in every sense of the word was the winner of the National Carrera Challenge Tour, Manuel Radlinger, as he was allowed to accompany Andreas Stadlbauer on the mountain stage.
For those who like racing the way it used to be, don’t miss the next edition of the Attersee Mountain Race.
