Carrera at the San Marino Grand Prix in Imola

San Marino Grand Prix in Imola – Formula 1 groups duel it out on the Carrera circuit!

20th April 2006. Location: San Marino, Imola, at the Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso Energy Station. Several well known faces met up ahead of the big race in San Marino to battle for victory on a giant 1:32 scale Carrera Lifestyle racing circuit.

Before the race Carrera handed over two cars to every team for optical fine tuning. The reaction was gigantic. Formula 1 drivers, race engineers, technicians, attractive ‘Formula Unas’, young ladies from within the Formula one scene, and media representatives such as Premiere’s reporter, Tanja Bauer, all gathered together at the Carrera race circuit.

The atmosphere was as electric as any real race, although this race was great fun for all the teams alike. Concentration, speed, instinct are all part of the action; and as with their full size counterparts, it soon became clear who has the miniature chassis and engines of the Carrera Racers under control.

The teams Sauber F1, Ferrari, McLaren Mercedes, RedBullRacing, Toro Rosso, Toyota and BMWWilliams F1 all qualified for the final which was ultimately won by BMWWilliams F1, twenty-one seconds ahead of Toyota and the Red Bull Racing Team. There was loud cheering and sparkling wine for the champion. Afterwards there was also plenty of time to celebrate, as pleasure should always follow business…
